Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Program Curriculum

Mount Cross CDC Transitional Kindergarten

Our Transitional Kindergarten is a bridge between Pre-K and Kindergarten, to provide students with time to develop fundamental skills needed for success in school in a setting that is appropriate to the student’s age and development.

We prefer that students attend the program 5 days per week until 1:30, but we do make exceptions. This schedule allows more time to prepare students for the increasing demands of Kindergarten.

In the Transitional Kindergarten class, we will be offering dual language that will introduce your child to basic concepts in Spanish, using the curriculum by Sonrisas and Estrelliata. The curriculum provides engaging encounters in basic reading skills, writing, and math concepts through literature, music and movement, fun activities, and art projects. Both Spanish and English will be used throughout the instruction of these subjects.

During “center” time, students participate in many hands-on activities which make learning fun! Standards and topics for the lessons and activities we teach in our classroom are guided by child development educational resources from the California Department of Education, Zoo Phonics, Scholastic Weekly Readers Magazines, and others.
