Meet Mount Cross Child Development Center’s Educators!
Amy Vega, Executive Director
Amy Vega is the Director of Mount Cross Child Development Center. She started her educational experience at Ventura College taking general education, and later transferred to Loyola Marymount University earning a B.A. degree in history.
Mrs. Vega has her Masters Degree in Child Development from Pacific Oaks College. Amy has worked in the field of early childhood education for over 20 years previously teaching preschool and eventually becoming the Director of a large faith based child development center in Oxnard for nine years.
While currently directing the Mount Cross Child Development Center, Amy also teaches at Moorpark College as an Adjunct Professor in the Child Development Department. Amy has a daughter Kate, two dogs, and a 180 pound African Sulcata Tortoise name Buttercup and has been married to her college sweetheart for over 29 years.
Elizabeth Fox, Assistant Director
Elizabeth Fox is the Assistant Director of Mount Cross Child Development Center.
She has been in the early education field for over 20 years working with infants through 8th grade, and has found an interest in developing curriculum.
She holds a site supervisor permit and a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies from the University of La Verne.
Laura Ripley, Threes Teacher
Laura Ripley is the teacher in the 3-year-old class.
She has been a preschool teacher and a paraprofessional in special education.
She holds a bachelor’s in child development from Cal Poly and teaching credential from Cal State University, Channel Islands.
Laura has also been a member of the Mt. Cross CDC board of education
Andrea Walker, Threes Assistant Teacher
Andrea Walker has been working at Mt. Cross for 10 yrs.
She loves working with children to help them prepare and feel comfortable in their first years of school.
She attended Ventura College to study Child Development.
She enjoys arts and crafts with her students.
Gisela Borrayo, TK Assistant Teacher
Gisela Borrayo is the assistant teacher in the TK class.
She has been in the educational field for five years with experience working with children who have developmental delays, specifically geared towards speech.
Gisela feels lucky to have a job she is passionate about.
Lana Lee, Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K)
Lana Lee is the pre-kindergarten teacher at Mount Cross Child Development Center.
She has been a preschool teacher for 18 years.
She holds an A/A degree and a B/A in child development from Cal State San Bernardino.
She also has a teaching credential in early childhood from the Ventura County office of education.
Rubi Flores, Floating Staff and Extended Care
Rubi Flores is the floating teacher for Mount Cross Child Development Center.
She has worked with children for six years, from toddlers to Kindergarten.
She has an Associate’s degree in Child Development and is still studying to be able to work in special education.
